Saturday Club
Our Roots supports children, young people and their families to engage in activities, dialogue, and peer-to-peer guided social action. These promotes innovative, group-based and fun-based programmes, that prevent young people from engaging in illegal activities like crime or displaying irresponsible behaviour like gang association, anti-social tendencies and bullying. At such forums we promote good citizenship and universally acceptable building values (culture). We hold our activities in community venues but can reach out to children and families within their community/homes/Centres.
We are very fortunate to receive funding from BBC Children In Need. Without this funding, none of our work with Our Roots Children would be possible.
We run a Saturday Club for children, teenagers and youths that aims to support them in:
- Academic and educational development
- Good manners and good citizenship
- Talent development and performing arts
- Dancing for fun and fitness (Dance Movement Therapy)
"It feels so good when my children wake up in the morning and rush to get ready to go to Our Roots. And when they come back and tell me what went on and what they did, it’s a joy to say that they are loving this. The tutors have just topped it up and even when I do not get around the time to help them in their learning, it’s comforting to know that they did some learning at Our Roots. Thank you everyone at Out Roots."
